Please be advised that the southern end of Short Cut Road near the entrance to Giinagay Way will be fully closed to all traffic from Tuesday 12 August and will reopen on Friday 15 August at 5pm (3 nights and 4 days).

After Friday 15 August, the road will be closed on weekdays - Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm until Friday 22 August.

This overnight closure is necessary to complete essential repair work on a section of road where poor ground conditions of a larger extent than originally expected have been identified. Variable Message Signs (VMS), social media and the Council website are being utilised to notify the community of this closure.

A detour for local traffic and traffic from South Arm Road will be available via Waterfall Way at the northern entrance to Short Cut Road.

Hobarts Bridge Closure Saturday 23 August

Please be advised that Darkwood Road will be closed at Hobarts Bridge on Saturday 23 August from 9am to 4pm.

This temporary closure is necessary to allow for the deck pour of the new bridge.

 No alternative access will be available during this time.

A Variable Message Sign (VMS) will also be utilised at the start of Darkwood Road to notify the community of this closure.

• Ongoing assessments to be undertaken by a Geotechnical Engineer to identify if any cracking or displacement has occurred
• A speed restriction to 40km/hr must remain in place
• Ongoing inspections during periods of rainfall (greater than 100mm of rainfall over 24 hours and where greater than 300mm over 7 days)
• Light weight traffic barriers have been placed on the road to keep traffic at least 1.5m away along the edge of the slip cracks
• ROAD CLOSURES likely to be triggered where greater than 150mm occurs over a 24-hour period and where greater than 350mm occurs over a 3-day period.
